The Byron Bay Writers Festival

Byron Bay writers festivalFor those with a passion for the written word, the annual Writers Festival at Byron Bay will fill you with a pleasure that you will relive many times over!

Every year, usually the last week in July, over 100 featured writers and thinkers, 150 volunteers and thousands of visitors, this Festival caters to the literary needs of every age and taste. Whether you are a poet, an aspiring journalist student, a literary genius or someone who simply loves books – there is something here for everyone!

Quite literally, the hottest literary events in Australia, there are panel discussions, readings, literary luncheons, live radio broadcasts, poetry readings, book signings and activities suitable for every age group.

Byron Bay Writers Festival Tickets

Ticket prices are affordable and can be purchased for one event (such as a discussion with one particular author) or purchased in passes for one, two or three days. The cost for the event is completely determined by how many and which types of events you would like to participate in. For the maximum benefit, of course it is probably best to look through the catalogue, determine who you would like to see or how many luncheons you can participate in and then decide which way is best suited to your needs for the Writers Festival.

For international visitors, remember that July is winter in Byron Bay. The temperatures averages a maximum of about 22°C (or 72°F), so bring a sweater or shawl to keep the night time chills off the shoulders, especially if you decide to stay in the hinterland, the forests or explore the beach in the evening. Although, there is plenty to do with the Writers Festival itself, for other members of your party, who may not be so literarily inclined, it is the season of whale watching and the waters are still plenty warm enough to swim in.

Regardless of how long you plan to stay in Byron Bay, there is something to be found for every person in your group. Just make sure that you choose this time of year if you have a love for literature in your life.
